What's going on with a body of elected government officials doing official business on property owned by a religious organization? Mr. W., would you please bring this matter to the attention of the Neigborhood Council Coordinator, and lobby your fellow council persons to hold all official public Neighborhood Council meetings on public property? Surely you can see the problem.

Anon;

I would hate to call us officials. We meet at the Heisey every other month so that we can meet with the neighborhood watch.

Meeting with the Watch is important. In the first place, it allows both groups (the Watch and the Council) to be informed about the other groups activities. It also highlights problem areas in the neighborhood that need attention. Finally, it removes a lot of duplicative effort by coordinating the efforts of these two groups.

Many members of the Watch are uncomfortable going to a meeting in the Civic Center. Therefore, we continue to meet at the Heisey.

By the way, the Heisey does not charge for the use of their room. They also have absolutely no authority over our meeting agenda, discussion topics, etc.

If meeting at the Heisey is what it takes to fill these goals, I am all for it. I will, however, be glad to forward your comment -- provided that you are represented by the council. To know that, I would have to have some idea of who you are.
